I started working for Global Transport 3 months ago as the Sales and Marketing Coordinator. Although I have a lot of experience in marketing and data analysis, I have no knowledge whatsoever about the trucking and freight brokering industry. So why did I take this job?
I know the President of our company, Victor Kaiser, personally. The Operations Manager, Jack Holmes, was one of my bridesmen in my wedding. They came to me and discussed an opportunity to work with them. Knowing them personally meant that I knew how driven, determined, focused, and inherently GOOD they are as people, so I dove headfirst into a field that I knew absolutely nothing about.
I regret nothing. This has been a challenging and exciting change of pace for me, and I couldn’t be happier to not only work for two people I deeply admire; but for a company whose core values mirror my own. Global Transport truly believes in delivering a quality product. The employees here have a respect for one another that is incredible. Victor and Jack care about our drivers, our carriers, our freight, and our customers.
Global Transport is coming up on its 7-year anniversary in our current building, and Victor is almost electric when he talks about how far we’ve come as a company. The owner, Alex Zaytsev, started with one truck, and now we’re one of the fastest growing companies in Cleveland. It’s truly a rags to riches story.
I’m so thankful that I get to be a part of this growth. And I’m even more thankful that I’m surrounded by such a knowledgeable group of people. From our Headquarters office to locations in Wadsworth, Florida, Iowa, and everyone in between; I know if I have any questions or if I want to learn anything, I have dozens of people who are experts in this field that I can turn to. And because of my background in Marketing, I’ve been able to help this company in ways they would’ve never thought of. It’s been an awesome start to what I can only hope will be a long-term career here.
My advice to you is that if you’re ever given an opportunity, please don’t hesitate to take it just because it’s out of your comfort zone. I have no clue what I’m doing here, but I’m learning every day.
